Accrual Rate Formula

The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed to calculate the Accrual Rate.

ACR = DA / DW
  • Where ACR is the Accrual Rate (accrued days per work day)
  • DA is the amount of PTO days accrued 
  • DW is the amount of days worked 

To calculate the accrual rate, divide the amount of PTO days accrued by the amount of days worked.

How to Calculate Accrual Rate?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Accrual Rate.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the amount of PTO days accrued.
    • The amount of PTO days accrued is given as: 10.
  2. Next, determine the amount of days worked.
    • The amount of days worked is provided as: 150.
  3. Finally, calculate the Accrual Rate using the equation above: 

ACR = DA / DW

The values provided above are inserted into the equation below and computed.

ACR = 10 / 150 = .066 (accrued days per work day)

Example Problem #2: 

For this problem, the variables required are provided below:
