How to Calculate BET Surface Area?

The following example problems outline how to calculate BET Surface Area.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the amount of molecules in the monolayer. 
    • The amount of molecules in the monolayer is given as: 100.
  2. Next, determine the space occupied by one molecule. 
    • The space occupied by one molecule is provided as: 1.5.
  3. Finally, calculate the BET Surface Area using the equation above: 

BET = #M * AM

The values provided above are inserted into the equation below and computed.

BET =100 *1.5 = 150.00


Example Problem #2: 

For this problem, the variables required are provided below:
