Enter the boost output voltage (volts) and the boost input voltage (volts) into the calculator to determine the Boost Converter Efficiency.

Boost Converter Efficiency Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Boost Converter Efficiency.

Eboost = (Vout- Vin)/ Vout *100

• Where Eboot is the Boost Converter Efficiency (%)
• Vout is the boost output voltage (volts)
• Vin is the boost input voltage (volts)

How to Calculate Boost Converter Efficiency?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Boost Converter Efficiency.

Example Problem #1:

1. First, determine the boost output voltage (volts). In this example, the boost output voltage (volts) is given as 500.
2. Next, determine the boost input voltage (volts). For this problem, the boost input voltage (volts) is given as 100.
3. Finally, calculate the Boost Converter Efficiency using the equation above:

Eboost = (Vout- Vin)/ Vout *100

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:

Eboost = (500- 100)/ 500 *100 = 80 (%)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:

boost output voltage (volts) = 300

boost input voltage (volts) = 200

Entering these values yields:

Eboost = (300- 200)/ 300 *100 = 33.33 (%)
