Boost Converter Efficiency Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the Boost Converter Efficiency.
Eboost = (Vout- Vin)/ Vout *100
- Where Eboot is the Boost Converter Efficiency (%)
- Vout is the boost output voltage (volts)
- Vin is the boost input voltage (volts)
How to Calculate Boost Converter Efficiency?
The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Boost Converter Efficiency.
Example Problem #1:
- First, determine the boost output voltage (volts). In this example, the boost output voltage (volts) is given as 500.
- Next, determine the boost input voltage (volts). For this problem, the boost input voltage (volts) is given as 100.
- Finally, calculate the Boost Converter Efficiency using the equation above:
Eboost = (Vout- Vin)/ Vout *100
Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:
Eboost = (500- 100)/ 500 *100 = 80 (%)
Example Problem #2:
Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:
boost output voltage (volts) = 300
boost input voltage (volts) = 200
Entering these values yields:
Eboost = (300- 200)/ 300 *100 = 33.33 (%)
