Cycling Energy Formula
The following equation is used to calculate the Cycling Energy.
E = P * T *60
Variables:
- Where E is the Cycling Energy (Joules, J)
- P is the average cycling power output (watts)
- T is the total cycling time (min)
How to Calculate Cycling Energy?
The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed in order to calculate the Cycling Energy.
Example Problem #1:
- First, determine the average cycling power output (watts). In this example, the average cycling power output (watts) is measured to be 57.
- Next, determine the total cycling time (min). For this problem, the total cycling time (min) is calculated to be 120.
- Finally, calculate the Cycling Energy using the formula above:
E = P * T *60
Inserting the values from above and solving the equation with the imputed values gives:
E = 57 * 120 *60 = 410,400 (Joules, J)
Example Problem #2:
Using the same process as example problem 1, we first define the needed variables outlined by the formula. In this case, the values are provide as:
average cycling power output (watts) = 100
total cycling time (min) = 30
Entering these values into the formula or calculator above gives us:
E = 100 * 30 *60 = 180,000 (Joules, J)
