Enter the average driving speed (mph) and the total drive time (hrs) into the Drive Time Distance Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Drive Time Distance.

Drive Time Distance Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Drive Time Distance.

DTD = AS * T
  • Where DTD is the Drive Time Distance (miles)
  • AS is the average driving speed (mph)
  • T is the total drive time (hr)

To calculate the distance from drive time, multiply the time by the average speed.

How to Calculate Drive Time Distance?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Drive Time Distance.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the average driving speed (mph).
    • The average driving speed (mph) is given as: 45.
  2. Next, determine the total drive time (hr).
    • The total drive time (hr) is provided as: 5.5.
  3. Finally, calculate the Drive Time Distance using the equation above:

DTD = AS * T

The values given above are inserted into the equation below and the solution is calculated:

DTD = 45 * 5.5 = 247.5 (miles)

Example Problem #2:

For this problem, the variables needed are provided below:

average driving speed (mph) = 75

total drive time (hr) = 3

This example problem is a test of your knowledge on the subject. Use the calculator above to check your answer.

DTD = AS * T = ?
