Enter the generator power consumption (watts) and the generator electrical current (amps) into the calculator to determine the Generator Voltage.

Generator Voltage Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Generator Voltage.

Vg = GP / GC

Variables:

  • Where Vg is the Generator Voltage (volts)
  • GP is the generator power consumption (watts)
  • GC is the generator electrical current (amps)

To calculate the generator voltage, divide the generator power by the generator current.

How to Calculate Generator Voltage?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Generator Voltage.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the generator power consumption (watts). In this example, the generator power consumption (watts) is measured to be 3.
  2. Next, determine the generator electrical current (amps). For this problem, the generator electrical current (amps) is calculated to be 9.
  3. Finally, calculate the Generator Voltage using the formula above:

Vg = GP / GC

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation with the imputed values gives:

Vg = 3/ 9 = .333 (volts)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as example problem 1, we first define the variables outlined by the formula. In this case, the values are:

generator power consumption (watts) = 1

generator electrical current (amps) = 10

Entering these values into the formula or calculator above gives us::

Vg = 1 / 10 = .10 (volts)
