Enter the led power usage (watts) and the led run time (s) into the calculator to determine the LED Energy.

LED Energy Formula

The following equation is used to calculate the LED Energy.

Eled = Pled * T

Variables:

  • Where Eled is the LED Energy (Joules)
  • Pled is the led power usage (watts)
  • T is the led run time (s)

To calculate the LED energy usage, multiply the led power usage rate by the time.

How to Calculate LED Energy?

The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed in order to calculate the LED Energy.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the led power usage (watts). In this example, the led power usage (watts) is measured to be 86.
  2. Next, determine the led run time (s). For this problem, the led run time (s) is calculated to be 49.
  3. Finally, calculate the LED Energy using the formula above:

Eled = Pled * T

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation with the imputed values gives:

Eled = 86*49 = 4214 (Joules)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as example problem 1, we first define the needed variables outlined by the formula. In this case, the values are provide as:

led power usage (watts) = 60

led run time (s) = 4

Entering these values into the formula or calculator above gives us: Eled = Pled * T = 60*4 = 240 (Joules)
