Enter the log radius (ft) and the log length (ft) into the Log Volume Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Log Volume.

Log Volume Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Log Volume.

LV = 3.14159*LR^2*LL
  • Where LV is the Log Volume (ft^3)
  • LR is the log radius (ft)
  • LL is the log length (ft)

How to Calculate Log Volume?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Log Volume.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the log radius (ft).
    1. The log radius (ft) is given as: 3.
  2. Next, determine the log length (ft).
    1. The log length (ft) is provided as: 50.
  3. Finally, calculate the Log Volume using the equation above:

LV = 3.14159*LR^2*LL

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

LV = 3.14159*3^2*50 = 1413.715 (ft^3)

Example Problem #2:

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

log radius (ft) = 6

log length (ft) = 70

Entering these values and solving gives:

LV = 3.14159*6^2*70 = 7916.81(ft^3)
