Enter the motor torque (N-m) and the angular speed (RPM) into the calculator to determine the Motor Power.

Motor Power Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Motor Power.

P = t * 2*PI*RPM/60
  • Where P is the Motor Power (watts)
  • t is the motor torque (N-m)
  • RPM is the angular speed (RPM)

How to Calculate Motor Power?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Motor Power.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the motor torque (N-m). In this example, the motor torque (N-m) is measured to be 36.
  2. Next, determine the angular speed (RPM). For this problem, the angular speed (RPM) is calculated to be 72.
  3. Finally, calculate the Motor Power using the formula above:

P = t * 2*PI*RPM/60

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation with the imputed values gives:

P = 36 * 2*3.14159*72/60 = 271.433 (watts)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as example problem 1, we first define the variables outlined by the formula. In this case, the values are:

motor torque (N-m) = 10

angular speed (RPM) = 9

Entering these values into the formula or calculator above gives us::

P = 10 * 2*3.14159*9/60 = 9.424 (watts)
