Enter the total gallons of paint needed (gal) and the cost per gallon of paint ($/gal) into the Paint Cost Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Paint Cost.

Paint Cost Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Paint Cost.

PC = GP * CPG
  • Where PC is the Paint Cost ($)
  • GP is the total gallons of paint needed (gal)
  • CPG is the cost per gallon of paint ($/gal)

To calculate the paint cost, multiply the gallons of paint by the cost per gallon.

How to Calculate Paint Cost?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Paint Cost.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the total gallons of paint needed (gal). The total gallons of paint needed (gal) is given as 5.
  2. Next, determine the cost per gallon of paint ($/gal). The cost per gallon of paint ($/gal) is provided as 30.
  3. Finally, calculate the Paint Cost using the equation above:

PC = GP * CPG

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

PC = 5 * 30 = 150 ($)

Example Problem #2:

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

total gallons of paint needed (gal) = 2

cost per gallon of paint ($/gal) = 20

Entering these values and solving gives:

PC = GP * CPG = 40.00 ($)
