Enter the price per bag of popcorn sold ($), the number of bags sold, and the cost of the kernels ($) into the calculator to determine the Popcorn Profit.

Popcorn Profit Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Popcorn Profit.

PP = PB * B - C
  • Where PP is the Popcorn Profit ($)
  • PB is the price per bag of popcorn sold ($)
  • B is the number of bags sold
  • C is the cost of the kernels ($)

To calculate popcorn profit, multiply the price per bag by the number of bags sold, then subtract the cost of the kernels used.

How to Calculate Popcorn Profit?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Popcorn Profit.

Example Problem #1

  1. First, determine the price per bag of popcorn sold ($). In this example, the price per bag of popcorn sold ($) is given as 1.5 .
  2. Next, determine the number of bags sold. For this problem, the number of bags sold is given as  250 .
  3. Next, determine the cost of the kernels ($). In this case, the cost of the kernels ($) is found to be 125.
  4. Finally, calculate the Popcorn Profit using the formula above:

PP = PB * #S – C

Inserting the values from above yields:

PP = 1.5 * 250 – 125 = 250 ($)

Example Problem #2

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

price per bag of popcorn sold ($) = 1.00

number of bags sold = 50

cost of the kernels ($) = 25

Entering these values and solving gives:

PP = 1 *50 – 25 = 25 ($)
