Enter the gauge pressure (psi) and the base pressure (psi) into the Calculator. The calculator will evaluate the Pressure Factor.

Pressure Factor Formula

PF = (GP + ATM) / BP

Variables:

  • PF is the Pressure Factor ()
  • GP is the gauge pressure (psi)
  • BP is the base pressure (psi)

To calculate the Pressure Factor, sum the gauge and atmospheric pressure, then divide by the base pressure.

How to Calculate Pressure Factor?

The following steps outline how to calculate the Pressure Factor.

  1. First, determine the gauge pressure (psi).
  2. Next, determine the base pressure (psi).
  3. Next, gather the formula from above = PF = (GP + ATM) / BP.
  4. Finally, calculate the Pressure Factor.
  5. After inserting the variables and calculating the result, check your answer with the calculator above.

Example Problem :

Use the following variables as an example problem to test your knowledge.

gauge pressure (psi) = 4.5

base pressure (psi) = 14
