Enter the total quilt area (in^2) and the cost of material per square inch ($/in^2) into the Quilting Cost Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Quilting Cost.

Quilting Cost Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Quilting Cost.

QC = QA * CPSI

  • Where QC is the Quilting Cost ($)
  • QA is the total quilt area (in^2)
  • CPSI is the cost of material per square inch ($/in^2)

How to Calculate Quilting Cost?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Quilting Cost.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the total quilt area (in^2). The total quilt area (in^2) is given as 400.
  2. Next, determine the cost of material per square inch ($/in^2). The cost of material per square inch ($/in^2) is provided as .35.
  3. Finally, calculate the Quilting Cost using the equation above:

QC = QA * CPSI

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

QC = 400 * .35 = 140 ($)

Example Problem #2:

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

total quilt area (in^2) = 600

cost of material per square inch ($/in^2) = .75

Entering these values and solving gives:

QC = QA * CPSI = 450 ($)
