Enter the total home area (ft^2) and the cost per square foot to rebuild ($/ft^2) into the Replacement Cost Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Replacement Cost.

Replacement Cost Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Replacement Cost.

RC = HA * CPSF

  • Where RC is the Replacement Cost ($)
  • HA is the total home area (ft^2)
  • CPSF is the cost per square foot to rebuild ($/ft^2)

How to Calculate Replacement Cost?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Replacement Cost.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the total home area (ft^2). The total home area (ft^2) is given as 1,500.
  2. Next, determine the cost per square foot to rebuild ($/ft^2). The cost per square foot to rebuild ($/ft^2) is provided as 300.
  3. Finally, calculate the Replacement Cost using the equation above:

RC = HA * CPSF

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

RC = 1500 * 300 = 450,000 ($)

Example Problem #2:

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

total home area (ft^2) = 2000

cost per square foot to rebuild ($/ft^2) = 100

Entering these values and solving gives:

RC = HA * CPSF = 200,000.00 ($)
