Enter the cost of goods sold ($) and the markup ($) into the Retail Cost Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Retail Cost.

Retail Price Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Retail Cost.

RP = COGS + M
  • Where RC is the Retail Price ($)
  • COGS is the cost of goods sold ($)
  • M is the markup ($)

To calculate the retail price, simply add the cost of goods sold together with the markup amount.

How to Calculate Retail Price?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Retail Cost.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the cost of goods sold ($). The cost of goods sold ($) is given as 55.
  2. Next, determine the markup ($). The markup ($) is provided as 75.
  3. Finally, calculate the Retail Cost using the equation above:

RC = COGS + M

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

RC = 55 + 75 = 140 ($)

Example Problem #2:

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

cost of goods sold ($) = 83

markup ($) = 12

Entering these values and solving gives:

RC = COGS + M = 95 ($)
