Enter the total sensitivity (dB) into the calculator to determine the Speaker Efficiency.

Speaker Efficiency Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Speaker Efficiency.

Es = 10 ^ [(S – 112)/10]

  • Where Es is the Speaker Efficiency (%)
  • S is the total sensitivity (dB)

How to Calculate Speaker Efficiency?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Speaker Efficiency.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the total sensitivity (dB). In this example, the total sensitivity (dB) is given as 105.
  2. Finally, calculate the Speaker Efficiency using the equation above:

Es = 10 ^ [(S – 112)/10]

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:

Es = 10 ^ [(105 – 112)/10] = .199 (%)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:

total sensitivity (dB) = 102

Entering these values yields:

Es = 10 ^ [(102- 112)/10] = .1 (%)
