How to Calculate Watt to Cost?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Watt to Cost.

Example Problem #1

  1. First, determine the total watts (W). The total watts (W) is given as 5000 .
  2. Next, determine the total time (hr). The total time (hr) is calculated as  3 .
  3. Next, determine the cost per watt-hour ($/WH). The cost per watt-hour ($/WH) is found to be .25.
  4. Finally, calculate the Watt to Cost using the formula above: 

WTC = W * T * CPW

Inserting the values from above yields: 

WTC = 5000 * 3 * .25 = 3,750.00 ($)

Example Problem #2

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

total watts (W) = 7000

total time (hr) = 8

cost per watt-hour ($/WH) = .10

Entering these values and solving gives:
