Enter the amount of weight lost (lbs) and the time it took to lose the weight (weeks) into the Weight Loss Rate Calculator. The calculator will evaluate the Weight Loss Rate.

Weight Loss Rate Formula

The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed to calculate the Weight Loss Rate.

WLR = WL / T
  • Where WLR is the Weight Loss Rate (lbs/week)
  • WL is the amount of weight lost (lbs)
  • T is the time it took to lose the weight (weeks)

To calculate the weight loss rate, divide the amount of weight loss by the time.

How to Calculate Weight Loss Rate?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Weight Loss Rate.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the amount of weight lost (lbs).
    • The amount of weight lost (lbs) is given as: 15.
  2. Next, determine the time it took to lose the weight (weeks).
    • The time it took to lose the weight (weeks) is provided as: 3.
  3. Finally, calculate the Weight Loss Rate using the equation above:

WLR = WL / T

The values provided above are inserted into the equation below and computed.

WLR = 15 / 3 = 5.00 (lbs/week)

Example Problem #2:

For this problem, the variables required are provided below:

amount of weight lost (lbs) = 20

time it took to lose the weight (weeks) = 5

Test your knowledge using the equation and check your answer with the calculator..

WLR = WL / T = ?
