Winch Efficiency Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the Winch Efficiency.
Ew = EF / LF * 100
- Where Ew is the Winch Efficiency (%)
- EF is the effort force (N)
- LF is the load force (N)
How to Calculate Winch Efficiency?
The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Winch Efficiency.
Example Problem #1:
- First, determine the effort force (N). In this example, the effort force (N) is given as 528.
- Next, determine the load force (N). For this problem, the load force (N) is given as 625.
- Finally, calculate the Winch Efficiency using the equation above:
Ew = EF / LF * 100
Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:
Ew = 528 / 625 * 100 = 84.48 (%)
Example Problem #2:
Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:
effort force (N) = 70
load force (N) = 80
Entering these values yields:
Ew = 70 / 80 * 100 = 87.5 (%)
