WTP = (P*EP) – DC

  • EP is the price of electricity ($/kWh) 
  • DC is the daily cost of the wind turbine ($) 

How to Calculate Wind Turbine Profit?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Wind Turbine Profit.

Example Problem #1

  1. First, determine the total power generated by the wind turbine per day (kWh). In this example, the total power generated by the wind turbine per day (kWh) is given as 1500 .
  2. Next, determine the price of electricity ($/kWh). For this problem, the price of electricity ($/kWh) is given as  1.25 .
  3. Next, determine the daily cost of the wind turbine ($). In this case, the daily cost of the wind turbine ($) is found to be 300.
  4. Finally, calculate the Wind Turbine Profit using the formula above: 

WTP = (P*EP) – DC

Inserting the values from above yields: 

WTP = (1500*1.25) – 300 = 1575 ($/day)


Example Problem #2

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

total power generated by the wind turbine per day (kWh) = 1600

price of electricity ($/kWh) = .86

daily cost of the wind turbine ($) = 400
