Amplifier Efficiency Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the Amplifier Efficiency.
Eamp = O / I *100
- Where Eamp is the Amplifier Efficiency (%)
- O is the amplifier output power
- I is the amplifier input power
How to Calculate Amplifier Efficiency?
The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Amplifier Efficiency.
Example Problem #1:
- First, determine the amplifier output power. In this example, the amplifier output power is given as 15.
- Next, determine the amplifier input power. For this problem, the amplifier input power is given as 283.
- Finally, calculate the Amplifier Efficiency using the equation above:
Eamp = O / I *100
Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:
Eamp = 15 / 283 *100 = 5.3 (%)
Example Problem #2:
Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:
amplifier output power = 110
amplifier input power = 500
Entering these values yields:
Eamp =110 / 500 *100 = 22 (%)
