Enter the amplifier output power and the amplifier input power into the calculator to determine the Amplifier Efficiency.

Amplifier Efficiency Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Amplifier Efficiency.

Eamp = O / I *100
  • Where Eamp is the Amplifier Efficiency (%)
  • O is the amplifier output power
  • I is the amplifier input power

To calculate the amplifier efficiency, divide the amplifier output power by the input power, then multiply by 100.

How to Calculate Amplifier Efficiency?

The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Amplifier Efficiency.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the amplifier output power. In this example, the amplifier output power is given as 15.
  2. Next, determine the amplifier input power. For this problem, the amplifier input power is given as 283.
  3. Finally, calculate the Amplifier Efficiency using the equation above:

Eamp = O / I *100

Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:

Eamp = 15 / 283 *100 = 5.3 (%)

Example Problem #2:

Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:

amplifier output power = 110

amplifier input power = 500

Entering these values yields:

Eamp =110 / 500 *100 = 22 (%)
