1-Month Notice Period Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the end date of a 1-month notice period.

End Date = Start Date + 1 - Month

Variables:

  • Start Date is the date when the notice period begins.
  • End Date is the planning estimate under the selected convention, including month-end clamping and any chosen weekend adjustment.

For the calculator’s day-after convention, add one calendar month to the notice date and clamp to the target month’s final day when needed. Counting the notice date itself subtracts one day. A calendar month is not always 30 days.

This calculator provides date planning under explicit assumptions. Actual notice requirements depend on the agreement and applicable law. Public holidays are not removed, and moving a date to Friday or Monday is optional rather than a legal rule. Reverse month subtraction includes a forward check because clamping is not always invertible. For example, 2026-12-31 minus one clamped month is 2026-11-30, but adding a month back gives 2026-12-30.
