8 Hours From Now Formula

Result = StartTime + 8 hours

For the "Before a time" mode:

Result = EndTime - 8 hours
  • Result — the time the calculator outputs
  • StartTime — current device time (From now) or a time you enter (After a time)
  • EndTime — the target time you want to be 8 hours past

The calculator uses your device's local time zone. Daylight saving transitions are handled by the browser's date object, so adding 8 wall-clock hours across a DST shift may move the result one hour forward or back. Seconds are dropped from the start time before adding.

Examples

Example 1. You clock in at 7:45 AM. Add 8 hours: 7:45 AM + 8:00 = 3:45 PM. Same day.

Example 2. Your shift ends at 2:00 AM. To find when it started, use "Before a time": 2:00 AM minus 8 hours = 6:00 PM the previous day.

Example 3. You take a dose at 10:30 PM. Next dose 8 hours later: 6:30 AM the next day.

FAQ

Does it count business hours only? No. It adds 8 clock hours straight through, including nights and weekends.

What time zone does it use? Whatever your device is set to. The result panel shows the detected zone.

Why did the result shift by an hour? A daylight saving change fell within the 8-hour window. The wall-clock result adjusts accordingly.
