Calculate room airflow from dimensions and ACH, duct CFM from velocity and size, or total air moved from airflow and time in CFM, m³/h, and L/s.
Air Volume Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the Air Volume.
AV = AF * T
- Where AV is the Air Volume (ft^3)
- AF is the volumetric air flow (CFM)
- T is the total time (minutes)
To calculate air volume, multiply the volumetric air flow (ft^3/min) by the total time.
How to Calculate Air Volume?
The following example problems outline how to calculate Air Volume.
Example Problem #1:
- First, determine the volumetric air flow (CFM).
- The volumetric air flow (CFM) is given as: 30.
- Next, determine the total time (minutes).
- The total time (minutes) is provided as: 5.
- Finally, calculate the Air Volume using the equation above:
AV = AF * T
The values given above are inserted into the equation below:
AV = 30 * 5 = 150 (ft^3)
Example Problem #2:
The variables needed for this problem are provided below:
volumetric air flow (CFM) = 6
total time (minutes) = 8
Entering these values and solving gives:
AV = 6 * 8 = 48 (ft^3)
