Enter the ear number, the average row number, and the average kernel number into the Corn Yield Calculator. The calculator will evaluate the Corn Yield.

Corn Yield Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Corn Yield. For this formula, use the following counting method: Count the number of harvest-able ears in a length of row equal to 1/1000th of an acre, on every fifth ear, count the number of kernel rows per ear, and determine the average, on each of these ears, count the number of kernels per
row and determine the average.

CY = EN * RN * KN/89.605

Variables:

  • CY is the Corn Yield (bushels/acre)
  • EN is the ear number
  • RN is the average row number
  • KN is the average kernel number

To calculate the corn yield, multiply the ear number by the average row number and average kernel number, then divide by 89.605.

How to Calculate Corn Yield?

The following steps outline how to calculate the Corn Yield.

  1. First, determine the ear number.
  2. Next, determine the average row number.
  3. Next, determine the average kernel number.
  4. Next, gather the formula from above = CY = EN *RN * KN /89.605.
  5. Finally, calculate the Corn Yield.
  6. After inserting the variables and calculating the result, check your answer with the calculator above.

Example Problem:

Use the following variables as an example problem to test your knowledge.

ear number = 26

average row number = 12

average kernel number = 10

CY = EN *RN * KN /89.605 =  ?
