Calculate oxygen delivery (DO2) and DO2 index from hemoglobin, SaO2, and cardiac output or cardiac index, with results in mL O2/min.
Do2 Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the oxygen dosage in a Do2 Calculator.
Do2 = (CaO2 * CO * 10)
Variables:
- Do2 is the oxygen delivery (ml O2/min/m2)
- CaO2 is the arterial oxygen content (ml O2/dl)
- CO is the cardiac output (l/min/m2)
To calculate the oxygen delivery, multiply the arterial oxygen content by the cardiac output, then multiply the result by 10.
What is a Do2?
Do2, or Oxygen Delivery (DO2), is a term used in medicine to refer to the amount of oxygen that is being delivered to the tissues in the body. It is calculated by multiplying the cardiac output (the amount of blood the heart pumps in a minute) by the oxygen content of the arterial blood. This measurement is crucial in assessing the oxygenation status of a patient, particularly in critical care settings.
