For existing seats, use the following formula. Room planning instead uses floor(usable area / selected area per person); guest planning uses ceiling(guests / places per table).
Variables:
- SC is the seating capacity
- R is the number of rows
- C is the number of seats per row
To calculate the seating capacity, multiply the number of rows by the number of seats per row. The result is the number of existing seats. It does not establish the permitted occupant load; confirm exits, aisles, accessibility and the actual layout.
