Tabata Calories Burned Formula
For the Basic calculator, use the standard 4-minute Tabata round:
Calories Burned = Body Weight (lb) × 4-Minute Rounds × 0.333
Total Time (minutes) = 4 × Rounds
For the Advanced calculator, calories are split between work time and recovery time:
Calories Burned = (Body Weight × Work Minutes × Work Factor) + (Body Weight × Recovery Minutes × Recovery Factor)

What Is Tabata?
Tabata is a short, hard interval workout built around repeated bursts of work and rest. The classic format is 20 seconds of hard effort followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times for a total of 4 minutes.
- 1 standard round = 8 work intervals
- Work time per round = 2 minutes 40 seconds
- Rest time per round = 1 minute 20 seconds
- 3 rounds = 12 minutes total
- 5 rounds = 20 minutes total
