Enter the absolute temperature at the surface (K) and the absolute flow temperature (K) into the Temperature Ratio Calculator. The calculator will evaluate and display the Temperature Ratio.

Temperature Ratio Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Temperature Ratio.

TR = TS / TF
  • Where TR is the Temperature Ratio
  • TS is the absolute temperature at the surface (K)
  • TF is the absolute flow temperature (K)

To calculate the temperature ratio, divide the absolute temperature at the surface by the absolute flow temperature.

How to Calculate Temperature Ratio?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Temperature Ratio.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the absolute temperature at the surface (K).
    • The absolute temperature at the surface (K) is given as: 40.
  2. Next, determine the absolute flow temperature (K).
    • The absolute flow temperature (K) is provided as: 70.
  3. Finally, calculate the Temperature Ratio using the equation above:

TR = TS / TF

The values given above are inserted into the equation below and the solution is calculated:

TR = 40 / 70 = .5714

Example Problem #2:

For this problem, the variables required are provided below:

absolute temperature at the surface (K) = 80

absolute flow temperature (K) = 90

Test your knowledge using the equation and check your answer with the calculator above.

TR = TS / TF = ?
