Turns Per Second Formula
The base formula uses revolutions and seconds.
TPS = (R) / (T)
To solve for revolutions:
R = TPS × T
To solve for time:
T = (R) / (TPS)
- TPS = turns per second, also written as revolutions per second
- R = number of revolutions or turns
- T = time in seconds
One turn equals one full revolution. If you enter degrees or radians, they are converted to revolutions before the calculation. If you enter minutes or hours, they are converted to seconds.

Example
If an object makes 120 revolutions in 10 seconds, divide 120 by 10.
TPS = (120) / (10) = 12
The object is turning at 12 turns per second. To convert TPS to revolutions per minute, multiply by 60.
