Antenna Efficiency Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the Antenna Efficiency.
Ea = Pr / Pi * 100
- Where Ea is the Antenna Efficiency (%)
- Pr is the radiated power
- Pi is the input power
To calculate the antenna efficiency, divide the radiated power by the input power.
How to Calculate Antenna Efficiency?
The following two example problems outline how to calculate the Antenna Efficiency.
Example Problem #1:
- First, determine the radiated power. In this example, the radiated power is given as 150.
- Next, determine the input power. For this problem, the input power is given as 200.
- Finally, calculate the Antenna Efficiency using the equation above:
Ea = Pr / Pi * 100
Inserting the values from above and solving the equation:
Ea = 150 / 200 * 100 = 75 (%)
Example Problem #2:
Using the same process as above, first define the variables required by the formula. In this case, these values are:
radiated power = 300
input power = 1000
Entering these values yields:
Ea = 300 /1000 * 100 = 30 (%)
