Use this calculator to determine your Beighton score, which is a measure of systemic hypermobility. The score is based on your ability to perform certain movements.
Beighton Score Criteria
The Beighton score is calculated using the following criteria:
- 1 point for each thumb that can touch the forearm when bent backwards
- 1 point for each little finger that can be extended back beyond 90 degrees
- 1 point for each elbow that bends backwards
- 1 point for each knee that bends backwards
- 1 point for being able to place hands flat on the floor without bending knees
A total score of 5 or more indicates systemic hypermobility.
How to Calculate Beighton Score?
Follow these steps to calculate your Beighton score:
- Check each movement according to the criteria listed above.
- For each movement that you can perform, check the corresponding box in the calculator.
- Click the “Calculate” button to see your total Beighton score.
- Use the “Reset” button to clear all fields and perform a new calculation.
Example Problem:
Let’s say you can perform the following movements:
- Touch both forearms with thumbs
- Extend both little fingers back beyond 90 degrees
- Bend both elbows backwards
- Place hands flat on the floor without bending knees
Your Beighton score would be 7, indicating systemic hypermobility.
