Enter the number of correct answers and the total number of questions into the calculator to estimate your percent correct and a simple (non-official) scaled-score estimate. The GACE score is a scaled score used to assess the qualifications of candidates for teaching in the state of Georgia.

Estimate percent correct and a simple linear scaled-score estimate (100–300), compare to common cut scores, or convert raw↔percent. Results are estimates only; official scaled scores vary by assessment and test form.

Percent Correct (Raw Score) Formula

The following formula calculates your percent correct (raw score percentage):

PC = \frac{CA}{TQ}\times 100 \\
\text{Estimated scaled (linear)} \approx 100 + 200\times \frac{CA}{TQ}

Variables:

  • PC is percent correct (%)
  • CA is the number of correct answers
  • TQ is the total number of scored questions

Percent correct is not the official GACE scaled score. This page’s calculator also shows a simple linear 100–300 scaled-score estimate for convenience, but official GACE scaled scores are produced using statistical equating and may differ.

What is a GACE Score?

The GACE score is a standardized scaled score used to evaluate readiness for teaching certification in Georgia. The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) are a set of tests that measure the knowledge and skills of prospective Georgia public school educators. GACE scaled scores typically range from 100 to 300 and are used to help make scores comparable across different test forms and administrations. Passing (cut) scores vary by assessment; many content assessments use two passing levels (commonly 220 and 250), while many other assessments use a single passing score (commonly 250).

How to Estimate a GACE Scaled Score?

The following steps outline how to estimate performance using percent correct and a simple linear scaled-score estimate:

  1. First, determine the number of correct answers (CA).
  2. Next, determine the total number of scored questions (TQ).
  3. Compute percent correct: PC = (CA / TQ) × 100.
  4. If you want the calculator’s simple linear 100–300 estimate, use: Estimated scaled ≈ 100 + 200 × (CA / TQ). (This is an estimate only; official scaled scores are equated.)

Example Problem:

Use the following variables as an example problem to test your knowledge.

Number of correct answers (CA) = 75

Total number of questions (TQ) = 100

Percent correct = (75 / 100) × 100 = 75%

Using the calculator’s simple linear estimate, the scaled score ≈ 100 + 200 × (75/100) = 250 (estimate only).
