Recumbent Bike Calories Formula
The calculator uses one of the following formulas depending on the mode you choose.
CB = M \times W \times F
CB = M \times (0.05508 \times P + 0.035 \times W)
Variables:
- CB = calories burned
- M = ride time in minutes
- W = body weight in kilograms
- F = effort factor: 0.050 for easy, 0.071 for moderate, 0.100 for vigorous
- P = average power output in watts
Basic mode is quickest when you only know your time and effort level. Advanced mode is useful when your bike console shows watts.
Typical Calories Burned in 30 Minutes
| Body Weight | Easy | Moderate | Vigorous |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 kg | 90 | 128 | 180 |
| 70 kg | 105 | 149 | 210 |
| 80 kg | 120 | 170 | 240 |
Recumbent Bike Calorie Burn
A recumbent bike places the rider in a reclined seated position with back support, making it a popular choice for steady cardio, interval work, and lower-impact training. Calories burned rise mainly with ride length, body weight, and how hard you pedal. If you track watts, small increases in power can raise calorie burn quickly over the course of a workout.
How to Calculate Recumbent Bike Calories
- Choose Basic or Advanced mode.
- Enter your body weight and ride time.
- In Basic mode, select easy, moderate, or vigorous effort. In Advanced mode, enter your average watts.
- Press Calculate to get your calories burned.
Example Calculations
Basic mode: A 70 kg rider doing 45 minutes at a moderate pace burns 223.65 calories.
Advanced mode: A 70 kg rider doing 30 minutes at 100 watts burns 238.74 calories.
