Calculate sales close rate from won deals and a consistent funnel denominator, or find future wins needed for a cumulative target.

Use wins and denominator counts from the same cohort and period. Open opportunities count as not yet won, not necessarily lost.

Close Rate Formula

The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed to calculate the Close Rate.

CR = C / O ร— 100
  • Where CR is the Close Rate (%)
  • #C is the total number of closes
  • O is the selected denominator count (qualified opportunities, proposals, or leads)

To calculate the close rate, divide the number of closes by the number of opportunities, then multiply by 100.

The cumulative-target planner holds existing wins and outcomes fixed and solves only for wins among the added opportunities. Open existing opportunities converting later require a separate forecast.

How to Calculate Close Rate?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Close Rate.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the total number of closes.
    • The total number of closes is given as 40.
  2. Next, determine the total number of opportunities.
    • The total number of opportunities is provided as 100.
  3. Finally, calculate the Close Rate using the equation above:

CR = #C / O * 100

The values provided above are inserted into the equation below and computed.

CR = 40 / 100 * 100 = 40.00 (%)

Example Problem #2:

For this problem, the variables required are provided below:

total number of closes = 50

total number of opportunities = 200

Test your knowledge using the equation and check your answer with the calculator.

CR = #C / O * 100 = ?
