Money Counter Formula
T = \sum (B_i \times V_i) + \sum (C_j \times v_j)
Where:
T is the total amount of money. B_i is the number of bills of type i, and V_i is the face value of that bill. C_j is the number of coins of type j, and v_j is the face value of that coin. You multiply each count by its face value and add every result together to get the total.
The total bills value is the sum of every bill count times its value, the total coins value is the sum of every coin count times its value, and the grand total is the two added together. Enter whole, nonnegative counts for cash. In the amount tasks, each amount and the target are rounded before addition or subtraction: to two decimal places for USD, EUR, GBP, CAD and AUD, and to whole yen for JPY. Exact halfway values round away from zero. This is the calculator's chosen rounding rule.

Example Problem
You have 3 twenty dollar bills, 4 five dollar bills, and 1 one dollar bill in cash, plus 6 quarters and 8 dimes in coins. Find the total.
Bills value is (3 x 20) + (4 x 5) + (1 x 1) = 60 + 20 + 1 = 81 dollars.
Coins value is (6 x 0.25) + (8 x 0.10) = 1.50 + 0.80 = 2.30 dollars.
The total money is 81 + 2.30 = $83.30, made up of 22 pieces.
FAQ
What does a money counter calculator do? It adds up the value of cash by multiplying how many of each bill and coin you have by that denomination value, then summing the results into one total.
Can I count only coins or only bills? Yes. Use the Calculation selector to choose US bills only or US coins only. In US bills and coins, open Coin counts to enter coins; blank counts are zero.
