Calculate corrugated board and sheet weight from dimensions and finished GSM, or derive GSM from liner and flute-medium weights, take-up factors, quantity, and adhesive allowance.

Use the measured or supplier-specified weight in grams per square meter.

Corrugated Board Weight Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Corrugated Board Weight.

CBW = BL * BW * BT * D

Variables:

  • CBW is the Corrugated Board Weight (lbs)
  • BL is the corrugated  board length (in)
  • BW is the corrugated board width (in)
  • BT is the corrugated board thickness (in)
  • D is the density = 0.00270955 lb/in^3

How to Calculate Corrugated Board Weight?

The following two example problems outline the steps and information needed to calculate the Corrugated Board Weight.

Example Problem #1

  1. First, determine the corrugated  board length (in).
    • The corrugated  board length (in) is calculated to be : 30.
  2. Next, determine the corrugated board width (in).
    • The corrugated board width (in) is measured to be: 20.
  3. Next, determine the corrugated board thickness (in).
    • The corrugated board thickness (in) is found to be: 2.
  4. Finally, calculate the Corrugated Board Weight using the formula above:

CBW = BL * BW * BT * D

The values provided above are inserted into the equation below and computed.

CBW = 30 * 20 * 2 * 0.00270955 = 3.251 (lbs)

Example Problem #2

The variables required for this problem are provided below:

corrugated  board length (in) = 40

corrugated board width (in) = 50

corrugated board thickness (in) = 2

Test your knowledge and check your answer with the calculator.

CBW = BL * BW * BT * D = (lbs)
