Enter the levels of life satisfaction, work satisfaction, health satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, and self-esteem into the calculator to determine the Happiness Index.

Happiness Index Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Happiness Index.

HI = (L + W + H + R + S) / 5

Variables:

  • HI is the Happiness Index
  • L is the level of life satisfaction (on a scale of 1-10)
  • W is the level of work satisfaction (on a scale of 1-10)
  • H is the level of health satisfaction (on a scale of 1-10)
  • R is the level of relationship satisfaction (on a scale of 1-10)
  • S is the level of self-esteem (on a scale of 1-10)

To calculate the Happiness Index, add the level of life satisfaction, work satisfaction, health satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, and self-esteem. Then, divide the total by 5. This will give you a number between 1 and 10, which represents the overall happiness index.

What is a Happiness Index?

A Happiness Index is a measure of the overall well-being and satisfaction of a population, often used to gauge the happiness of citizens in a particular country. It takes into account various factors such as economic stability, social support, life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption. The index is typically used to evaluate and compare the quality of life in different countries, with the aim of influencing policy decisions to improve societal well-being.

How to Calculate Happiness Index?

The following steps outline how to calculate the Happiness Index (HI).

  1. First, determine the level of life satisfaction (L) on a scale of 1-10.
  2. Next, determine the level of work satisfaction (W) on a scale of 1-10.
  3. Next, determine the level of health satisfaction (H) on a scale of 1-10.
  4. Next, determine the level of relationship satisfaction (R) on a scale of 1-10.
  5. Next, determine the level of self-esteem (S) on a scale of 1-10.
  6. Finally, calculate the Happiness Index (HI) using the formula HI = (L + W + H + R + S) / 5.
  7. After inserting the variables and calculating the result, check your answer with the calculator above.
