High Voltage To Low Voltage Formula
The following formula is used to calculate the low voltage for a given high voltage, number of secondary turns, and number of primary turns.
V_L = (V_H * N_S) / N_P
Variables:
- VL is the low voltage
- VH is the high voltage
- NS is the number of secondary turns
- NP is the number of primary turns
To calculate the low voltage, multiply the high voltage by the number of secondary turns and divide the result by the number of primary turns.

What is a High Voltage to Low Voltage Transformer?
A high voltage to low voltage transformer is an electrical device that converts high voltage electricity to low voltage electricity. It consists of two sets of coils, known as the primary and secondary windings, which are wound around a magnetic core. The primary winding is connected to the high voltage source, and the secondary winding is connected to the low voltage load. The transformer operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction, where a change in current in the primary winding induces a voltage in the secondary winding. The ratio of the number of turns in the primary winding to the number of turns in the secondary winding determines the voltage transformation ratio.
How to Calculate High Voltage to Low Voltage?
The following steps outline how to calculate the low voltage from a high voltage using a transformer.
- First, determine the high voltage (VH).
- Next, determine the number of secondary turns (NS).
- Next, determine the number of primary turns (NP).
- Finally, calculate the low voltage using the formula VL = (VH * NS) / NP.
- After inserting the values and calculating the result, check your answer with the calculator above.
