Measurement Ratio Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Measurement Ratio. 

MR = M1 / M2
  • Where MR is the Measurement Ratio
  • M1 is the first length, converted to the same unit as M2 
  • M2 is the second length, converted to the same unit as M1 

To calculate the measurement ratio, first convert both lengths to the same unit, then divide the first by the second. A decimal ratio r is shown as first : second = r : 1.
