Percentage of Revenue Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the Percentage of Revenue. 

RP = NR / TR × 100
  • Where RP is the Percentage of Revenue (%)
  • NR is the revenue from new products or services ($) 
  • TR is the total revenue ($) 

To calculate the percentage of revenue, divide the revenue from the product or service by total company revenue, then multiply by 100. A zero total has no defined revenue percentage.

How to Calculate Percentage of Revenue?

The following example problems outline how to calculate Percentage of Revenue.

Example Problem #1:

  1. First, determine the revenue from new products or services ($). In this example, the revenue from new products or services ($) is given as 2300.
  2. Next, determine the total revenue ($). For this problem, the total revenue ($) is given as 4000.
  3. Finally, calculate the Percentage of Revenue (%) using the equation above: 

R% = NR / TR * 100

The values given above are inserted into the equation below:

R% = 2300 / 4000 * 100 = 57.5 (%)

Example Problem #2: 

The variables needed for this problem are provided below:

revenue from new products or services ($) = 185

total revenue ($) = 199

Entering these values and solving gives:

R% = 185/ 199 * 100 = 92.96 (%)
