Powder Coating Rate Formula
The following equation is used to calculate the Powder Coating Rate.
TE = (M2-M1) / M3 *100
- Where TE is the transfer efficiency/coating rate (%)
- M2 is the mass of the part after coating
- M1 is the mass of the part before coating
- M3 is the mass of the powder in the bag.
To calculate the Powder Coating Rate, divide the mass of the powder deposited by the mass of the powder in the bag, then multiply by 100.
What is a Powder Coating Rate?
Definition:
A powder coating rate is defined as either the total weight of powder deposited per unit of time, or the total percentage of powder in a bag used per part.
How to Calculate Powder Coating Rate?
Example Problem:
The following example outlines the steps and information needed to calculate Powder Coating Rate.
First, determine the initial weight of the part. In this example, the part ways 10kg.
Next, determine the weight of the part after coating. This is found to be 12kg.
Next, determine the weight of the powder in the bag. This is calculated to be 40kg.
Finally, calculate the Powder Coating Rate using the formula above:
TE = (M2-M1) / M3 *100
TE = (12-10) / 40 *100
TE = 5 % per part
