Price Per Gram to Price Per Pound Formula

One pound equals 453.59237 grams. Every mode in this calculator uses that constant to move between units.

Price per pound = Price per gram * 453.59237
Price per gram = Total price / Weight in grams
Price per pound = Price per gram * 453.59237
  • Total price: the amount you pay for the package.
  • Weight in grams: the package weight converted to grams (1 kg = 1000 g, 1 oz = 28.3495 g, 1 lb = 453.59237 g).
  • Price per gram: cost of one gram of product.
  • Price per pound: cost of one pound (453.59237 g) of product.

The From package mode takes a total price and a package weight, converts the weight to grams, and divides to get price per gram. It then multiplies by 453.59237 to get price per pound.

The Convert rate mode skips the package step. If you already know a price per pound, it divides by 453.59237 to give price per gram. If you know a price per gram, it multiplies by 453.59237.

The Compare mode runs the package math on two options and reports which one has the lower unit price, plus the difference per pound.

FAQ

How many grams are in a pound?
453.59237 grams. The calculator uses the full value rather than rounding to 454.

Why does the price per gram show extra decimals?
Most products cost less than a dollar per gram. The display adds decimals when the rate drops below $1 or $0.01 so the number stays meaningful.

Can I mix units when comparing two options?
Yes. Option A can be in pounds and Option B in grams. Each weight is converted to grams before the comparison.

Does the currency selector convert exchange rates?
No. It only changes the symbol shown with the result. Both compared options are assumed to use the same currency.
