Calculate your swimming pace by entering the total distance and total time swum. This calculator will convert these values into time-per-distance splits for 50, 100, and 200 meters or yards.

Swim Pace Formula
The following formula is used to calculate your swim pace.
P_{50} = \dfrac{T}{D/50} = \dfrac{50T}{D}- Where P50 is the pace per 50 (time to swim 50 m/yd, using the same time units as T)
- D is the total distance (in meters or yards)
- T is the total time
This equation yields your equivalent pace per 50 m (or per 50 yd, depending on the distance unit used).
To calculate a swim pace, divide the total time by the number of equal-distance segments in your swim (for example, the number of 50s or 100s in the total distance).
Swim Pace Definition
A swim pace is defined as the time it takes to swim a given distance (commonly expressed as seconds or minutes per 50/100/200 meters or yards).
How to calculate swim pace?
How to calculate swim pace?
- First, determine your total swim distance.
For this example we will say the person swam 500m.
- Next, determine your total swim time.
For this example we will say the total time is 20 min.
- Finally, calculate the swim pace.
So using the formula above, we find the pace per 50 m to be 20 min / (500 m / 50) = 2 min per 50 m (2:00 per 50 m).
