35 Grams to Cups Converter

This tool is designed around the 35-gram measurement and adjusts its output based on whichever ingredient you select. A fixed weight like 35 grams translates to different volumes depending on what you’re measuring—35 grams works out to roughly 3 tbsp of sugar, 0.29 cups of flour, 2.5 tbsp of butter, and about 2.4 tbsp of water.

Each result is calculated by dividing 35 grams by the ingredient’s approximate grams-per-cup value to produce cups, tablespoons, and teaspoons. Because grams measure weight and cups measure volume, dense ingredients like honey, molasses, and peanut butter take up far less cup space than lighter, airier ones such as flour, cocoa powder, oats, or powdered sugar.

Why 35 Grams Measures Differently Across Ingredients

The weight stays fixed at 35 grams, but the volume it occupies shifts with every ingredient. Granulated sugar is fairly dense, so 35 grams fills only about 3 tbsp—not even a quarter cup. Meanwhile, 35 grams of flour takes up closer to 1/3 cup because flour is much lighter per unit of volume. At the opposite extreme, thick syrups like honey come in at just around 1.65 tbsp since they weigh a great deal more per cup.

A kitchen scale is still the most dependable way to hit exactly 35 grams when baking, since scooping technique, packing, sifting, and melting can each shift the volume you end up with. For quick volume estimates without a scale, the calculator and reference table above give reliable starting points for cups, tablespoons, and teaspoons.
