Acetal Weight Formulas

The following formulas are used to calculate the weight of Acetal in different shapes.

Acetal Flat Sheet Weight Formula = L * W * T * d

Acetal Round Bar Weight Formula = pi * D^2/4 * L * d

Acetal Square Hollow Tube Weight Formula = [W^2-(W-2T)^2] * L * d

Acetal Round Hollow Tube Weight Formula = pi * (R^2-r^2) * L * d

Acetal Square Angle Weight Formula = (2*W*T – T^2) * L * d

Acetal T bar Weight Formula = (W*T + (H-T)*T)* L * d

Acetal C Channel Weight Formula = (2*W*T1+(H-2*T1)*T2)* L * d

Variables used in these equations:

  • L is the length
  • W is the width (or leg/flange width, depending on shape)
  • H is the height
  • T is the thickness
  • d is the density
  • D is the outer diameter
  • R is the outer radius
  • r is the inner radius
  • T1 is the channel thickness along the width (flange thickness)
  • T2 is the channel thickness along the height (web thickness)

The calculator uses inches for dimensions and lb/in³ for density internally (it will also accept density in kg/m³ and convert it automatically). If you choose to enter dimensions in another length unit, you must convert them to inches (or use matching volume and density units consistently) to avoid incorrect results.

What is the density of Acetal?

The average density of Acetal is 0.05093948 lbs/in^3 (≈ 1410 kg/m³).
