The following formula is used to calculate cutting time: 

CT = L / CS
  • Where CT is the cutting time (min)
  • L is the length of the work piece
  • CS is the cutting speed (distance/min)

Next, determine the cutting speed. This would be the linear distance travelled by the machine per unit time.

In this case, the cutting speed is 2 inches per minute.

Finally, calculate the cutting time using the formula above:
