The following formula is used to calculate the effective ownership for a given set of ownership percentages. 

EO = DO + (IO * OPIE / 100)

Variables:

  • EO is the effective ownership
  • DO is the direct ownership
  • IO is the indirect ownership
  • OPIE is the ownership percentage in the intermediate entity

To calculate the effective ownership, add the direct ownership to the product of the indirect ownership and the ownership percentage in the intermediate entity divided by 100.
