  • IFC is the Idling Fuel Consumption (L/hr)
  • ES is the total engine displacement (L)
  • k is an idle fuel-use factor with units of (L/hr) per liter of displacement (equivalently 1/hr). A common “ballpark” value is on the order of a few tenths (e.g., ~0.30 L/hr per L) for a warmed-up engine at normal idle with minimal accessory load.
