Parking Area Formula

PARK = LA × PR / 100
  • Where PARK is the Parking Area (ft^2)
  • LA is the total lot area (ft^2) 
  • PR is the parking ratio (%) 

To calculate parking area, multiply total lot area by the allocation percentage divided by 100. This percentage is different from a requirement stated as spaces per building area. Stall estimates use the supplied gross area or requirement and do not verify a layout or local code.

  1. First, determine the total lot area (ft^2).
    • The total lot area (ft^2) is given as 1,000.
  2. Next, determine the parking ratio (%).
    • The parking ratio (%) is provided as 20.
